Before all the sickness interrupted our regular routine, we had a very eventful day. Our new routine beginning this year is 5:00 am, Gym for me while everyone else catches a couple more hours of sleep. My niece, Hannah, stays with us a couple of times a week while her mommy is at work. She usually arrives at 6:30. So, as part of our new routine, Tim is up at 6:30 to tend to Hannah until I get home usually around 7:00. So far, things are working out. This particular day, things started out rather smoothly. Around 7:30, Kadyn surfaces and gets ready for school. Now we do this routine everyday but somehow having another two year old in the mix can make things rather challenging because two year olds like to "do it themselves", even when you are in a hurry. Kadyn did make it to school on time. Kamden and Hannah were doing really well playing together without much fighting. So, I decided it would be okay if I ran downstairs for a quick minute to start some laundry. As I am sorting some clothes, I hear them giggling and stomping around upstairs. Sounds like they are having some harmless, innocent fun....I mean, they aren't fussing or fighting right?!!?. So, I get my laundry started and head upstairs. It was at that very moment that I thought that a mom should be armed with a video camera at all times. The look on their face was priceless. I didn't know if I should laugh or cry. They thought they were going to be in BIG trouble. So, here is what happened... One of the precious little angels decided to have a snack. I am sure the other one wasn't but a step behind as well. Anyway, there was a small bowl setting in the middle of the kitchen floor (a bowl which wouldn't hold much more than a cup or so). They must of thought that rice krispies sounded good. Now, I buy the kids cereal that comes in the bag since I really don't have a place to store cereal boxes and the fact that it is cheaper. Anyway, I had just bought a new SUPER SIZE bag of Rice Krispies and had only served one bowl full to Kadyn that morning. So, the bag was, needless to say, extremely full!!!! The little ones, manhandling this huge bag of cereal, attempted to pour themselves a "little" snack into their "little" bowl. Well, I guess you can say, this back fired. I would guess that more than 3/4 of the bag of cereal was on the floor. I am sure that they were shocked at first but when they discovered that they could slide around on the "ice kisspy" it became so much fun. Then one discovered that you could stomp on them and this was fun too. Did they stop there, no, the next idea was to throw them in the air like snow. How could mommy/Aunt Brandi be upset with these two precious angels... The look on their faces when they saw coming up the stairs probably kept me from setting them in time out for a very long time. There were Rice Krispies everywhere...under the fridge, under the stove, on the cabinets, etc. I am still finding Rice Krispies. AHHHHhhhhh. Well anyway, they did get to help clean up the mess. Some punishment. They loved cleaning it up. They had to "do it myself". And, there was some fighting over the broom and dust pan of course. So, here are some pics...
